{"id":69,"date":"2023-08-14T20:15:50","date_gmt":"2023-08-14T20:15:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pngyoung.com\/Camping\/?page_id=69"},"modified":"2023-08-14T20:33:42","modified_gmt":"2023-08-14T20:33:42","slug":"rp-177","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/pngyoung.com\/Camping\/rp-177\/","title":{"rendered":"SOLD &#8211; 2011 R-Pod RP-177"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our dear RP-177, purchased in January 2010, served us well until we replaced it in 2022 with an RP-171 (an RP-171 only because Forest River stopped production of the RP-177 in the late 201x&#8217;s).<\/p>\nngg_shortcode_0_placeholder\n<h2>Great camping trailer, perfect for a couple or small family:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Towing is comfortable with SUV or small truck (e.g. Tacoma) &#8211; 9 ft length, 8 ft width, 2,300 lbs dry weight, 1,450 payload, GVWR: 3,732 lbs.<\/li>\n<li>For the 177&#8217;s size, the interior is and feels roomy, with enough space for two people to not feel cramped.<\/li>\n<li>The streamlined shape and light weight make for easy towing on the highways and on back roads.<\/li>\n<li>With ample fresh water supply and battery capacity with solar charging, this is a perfect RV for dispersed camping and primitive campgrounds.<\/li>\n<li>4 person dinette (42&#8243; x 74&#8243;), can be rearranged for 2-person bed; has storage under seats<\/li>\n<li>Kitchen area: sink, gas cooktop, and fridge in slideout which leaves wide walkthrough to the sleeping space<\/li>\n<li>Queen size bed (60&#8243; x 74&#8243;), with topper<\/li>\n<li>Bath with shower and toilet (toilet never used), exhaust fan<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Very efficient Kitchen area:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Three way refrigerator (propane, AC, or 12v), new in 2020<\/li>\n<li>Two-burner propane cooktop<\/li>\n<li>Single sink<\/li>\n<li>Drawers and cabinet under counter plus overhead storage<\/li>\n<li>Microwave oven available (removed to provide more kitchen storage space)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>All the necessary Utilities:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Propane heater with thermostat and DC electric fan<\/li>\n<li>Air conditioner (requires shore power)<\/li>\n<li>Propane hot water heater<\/li>\n<li>Tanks: 36 gal fresh water (with DC water pump), 30 gal grey water, 30 gal black water (never used)<\/li>\n<li>AC service: 30 amp RV power cord, multiple interior outlets and one exterior outlet<\/li>\n<li>DC service &#8211; two 6 volt T-105 deep cycle batteries (225 ah@ 12v) new in 2019<\/li>\n<li>Plus &#8212; portable 70 watt solar panel with charge controller<\/li>\n<li>Multiple 12v outlets (some with USB charging receptacles); 12 volt LED lights throughout<\/li>\n<li>Hoses: fresh water fill hose, 12 ft grey\/black water drain hose<\/li>\n<li>Propane Tank: 20 pound<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>From the outside:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Exterior refurbished top to bottom and new decals in 2020<\/li>\n<li>Large pass-through storage compartment with external access from both sides of camper (located under the bed, isolated from the interior)<\/li>\n<li>Hitch for 2&#8243; ball, anti-sway bar<\/li>\n<li>2&#8243; lifts installed when new<\/li>\n<li>Tires: ST205\/75Rl4 (26.7&#8243; diameter), new in 2020, plus spare with cover<\/li>\n<li>No damage history<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>We have realized great enjoyment in our RP-177<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>For 4 years it was set up at our cabin site, our home-away-from-home while we built the cabin.\n<ul>\n<li>We were most comfortable, &#8220;living&#8221; in the R-Pod for 2-3 weeks at a time, winter and summer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>For the past 9 years we have traveled and camped extensively, towing it initially with a 2003 Chevrolet S-10, then a Honda Odyssey (including a trip from Albuquerque to San Diego), and for the past 8 years with a 2013 Tacoma. And we have traveled around the Southwest (New Mexico and Arizona) and as far as the Sawtooth Mountains in Idaho.\n<ul>\n<li>This speaks to the &#8220;towability&#8221; of this relatively small, lightweight trailer camper.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>In those years we have camped at many National Forest campgrounds, seldom using sites with hookups.
