It came time to get back in the cockpit of the Tecnam P2002 Sierra at NM Sport Aircraft. Normal takeoff, headed southeast over the Galisteo Basin, did full range of stalls (power on/off, flaps up/down), steep turns, engine out/forced landing (to a few hundred feet AGL). Back to KSAF for full range of landings (normal, short field, soft field, no flap).
I really enjoy flying this airplane. Having learned to fly in a low wing airplane (T-34), low wing airplanes have always been my preference. This airplane fits me like a glove – I have much better situational awareness than in a high wing airplane, enjoying better visual references for pitch and roll attitudes. Maintaining coordinated flight is much more natural, and it requires constant rudder adjustments as power, airspeed, and turn rate change.
