{"id":322,"date":"2022-02-21T03:32:47","date_gmt":"2022-02-21T03:32:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pngyoung.com\/Flying\/?page_id=322"},"modified":"2022-02-21T03:32:47","modified_gmt":"2022-02-21T03:32:47","slug":"coast-to-coast-across-the-country","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/pngyoung.com\/Flying\/coast-to-coast-across-the-country\/","title":{"rendered":"Coast-to-Coast aCross (the) Country"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Flying to -go somewhere- has been at the forefront of my joy as a pilot.&nbsp; It started with my first solo cross country flight when I could choose the destination &#8211; I flew from the Air Force Academy (near Colorado Springs) to my home town, Hoxie, in northwest Kansas &#8211; for breakfast with my parents (1965).&nbsp; Subsequently I&#8217;d flow:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>From Wright Field, Wright-Patterson AFB OH: a few times to Kansas and once to Kansas and Denver via Eglin AFB FL and return (1968 with my wife)<\/li>\n<li>From Edwards AFB CA to Kansas and on to Eglin and return (1979 with my family)<\/li>\n<li>From Langley AFB VA to Texas, Albuquerque, Colorado Springs, Kansas (again) and return (2006 with my wife)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But, I hadn&#8217;t really done a <em>Coast-To-Coast aCross (the) Country<\/em>.&nbsp; This is the story of that (for us) epic Cross Country flight(s).&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For starters, here are links to downloads:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/pngyoung.com\/Flying\/wp-content\/uploads\/Coast-to-Coast.GE_-1.jpg\">A map from GoogleEarth<\/a> showing the general route of flight and placemarks for each of the 22 airports that we visited.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/pngyoung.com\/Flying\/wp-content\/uploads\/Coast-to-Coast.kml\">A .kml file for GoogleEarth of the route of flight and airports that we visited<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/pngyoung.com\/Flying\/wp-content\/uploads\/Presentation1.pdf\">A slide presentation of the trip<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This is a placeholder for (someday) a larger narrative for the story of this epic flight.
